Using PKP SA infrastructure in the creation of Logistics Centers – Małaszewicze region

The modern transport services market is highly demanding, where survival and development require meeting very high and difficult customer requirements. Meeting these expectations necessitates moving away from the traditional understanding of transport services, raising the threshold of existing standards, and implementing a full market orientation within the company. Customers increasingly require a single, clearly identified, and reliable transport service partner, as well as transparent transport chains in domestic and international freight traffic. They expect a defined level of service quality and a price adequate to it. To meet modern challenges, PKP CARGO SA has set itself the goal of transforming the company from a transport and forwarding enterprise into a logistics operator offering comprehensive, integrated services tailored to customer preferences and market requirements. The activities of the logistics operator that the CARGO company aims to become are primarily focused on gaining a competitive advantage through:
– broader participation in the supply chain
– creation of logistics centers and organization of cargo concentration points
– modernization and investment projects in the field of rolling stock and traction, as well as modern technologies
– enriching the company’s offer with new logistics products
– ensuring a high level of logistics customer service.

The company strives to ensure that rail transport and the company’s services play an increasingly key role in the transport chain. To achieve this, it is necessary to reach individual customers and propose a comprehensive service in which, in addition to the carrier, other entities involved in cargo turnover handling would participate. This cooperation must begin at the stage of commercial negotiations, and its primary goal is to ensure the possibility of executing the contract as a logistics project, taking into account various types of transport, transshipment, storage and packaging of goods, quality testing, organization of cooperation between individual subcontractors of the logistics process, etc. Such a solution certainly has a very important advantage, namely that the final costs of a comprehensive service are significantly lower than services performed under separate orders. Therefore, it is a very important issue for PKP SA to create logistics centers as quickly as possible in the locations described in issue 2/2003 of “Logistyka”.

Below, another location for a future center will be presented – Małaszewicze.

The article comes from the magazine “Logistyka” 2003/6.
