GDDKiA and Targeo.pl launch a road service for drivers

The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) has selected the Targeo mapping platform as a tool for presenting the current road situation in Poland on a service for drivers hosted on its websites. The application, available at http://www.gddkia.gov.pl/, allows drivers, among other things, to plan travel routes while taking into account the current road and weather conditions in all regions of Poland.

The solution provided by Targeo.pl is based on maps from the AutoMapa navigation system and has been integrated with the GDDKiA road database. As a result, all information regarding traffic problems on Polish roads can be processed in real-time, which in practice translates into very high data accuracy. It is the only solution on the market that allows for the presentation of precise locations and descriptions of road obstructions, as well as other situations affecting traffic flow across the country. The service’s currency is maintained by nearly 500 people across Poland who report local information to a central database.

– We are very pleased with the cooperation with such a prestigious partner as the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways. We are convinced that our experience in creating and operating such services, combined with GDDKiA’s road data and the most accurate maps on the market provided by Targeo and AutoMapa, will bring tangible benefits to all drivers and contribute to improving the safety and comfort of travel – says Rafał Mikołajczak, CEO of Indigo, the creator of the Targeo.pl service.

– The service for drivers launched in cooperation with Targeo.pl is the first tool that allows free access to current information on road conditions and takes into account road obstructions when planning a trip. This is a great convenience for drivers and perfectly aligns with one of GDDKiA’s main goals, which is to improve travel comfort, ensure traffic flow on roads, and provide drivers with up-to-date information on the road situation so they can travel more safely – said Waldemar Królikowski, Deputy General Director of National Roads and Motorways, the initiator of the service.

The creators of Targeo.pl announce that in the near future, the GDDKiA road service will also be made available in a mobile version, allowing drivers who only have a mobile phone with the free Targeo.mobi map application installed to check what obstructions to expect on their route.
