IDS Scheer implements SAP at Jutrzenka Group

The productive start of the SAP system at Kaliszanka is the first stage of “launching” the system across the entire Jutrzenka Group. This is one of the largest SAP system implementations in the Polish confectionery industry in terms of functionality. It is being conducted by IDS Scheer Polska.

Work on the business concept for the SAP system implementation for the companies Kaliszanka and Jutrzenka began in February 2006. A very broad functional scope of implementation was decided upon – the deployment of modules for: financial accounting, fixed assets, controlling, warehouse management, materials management, quality control, production planning, and sales and distribution.

The actual implementation work started in December 2006, and just a year later – on January 1, 2008 – the successful productive start of the system took place at Kaliszanka. During the project, the company’s structure and ideas for its consolidation changed many times. – We knew about the planned transformations, but they were supposed to end earlier – in March – without affecting the SAP implementation. Meanwhile, the final changes did not occur until the autumn. When we bought Hellena and it had to be added to the system, half of the people were developing the business concept, and half were working with the programmers. However, everything worked out – two weeks after the productive start, there are no major problems. Functionally and process-wise, the system works excellently and meets the assumptions contained in the business concept and the project charter – summarizes Tomasz Krzesiński.

A similar role of a testing ground is played by the pilot project conducted by IDS Scheer regarding high-bay warehouses at the plants in Poznań. This solution will ultimately function in a huge (15,000 sqm) logistics center currently being built in Kostrzyn near Poznań, from which sales for the entire Group will be conducted. A high-bay warehouse is already a standard in the food industry, but only Jutrzenka decided on its true integration and software within the SAP system.

The SAP system at Kaliszanka and Jutrzenka will be used by 156 users in several locations: Bydgoszcz, Poznań, Kalisz, Opatówek, and Kostrzyn. They will be joined by another 50 when the SAP system launches at Ziołopex in 2009. The project begins in May of this year – the implementation partner is also IDS Scheer.
