New UPS services

Effective January 17, 2008, UPS is introducing a simplified set of air freight services, including a significantly expanded express freight option with guaranteed door-to-door delivery.

The new air freight portfolio includes a significantly expanded international express service called UPS ExpressSM Freight. It more than triples the number of express lanes served. The service offers guaranteed door-to-door delivery of goods within a defined time, from one to three days – including standard customs clearance – to major metropolitan areas worldwide.

For global goods flows where time is less critical, UPS offers two non-guaranteed delivery alternatives: UPS Air Freight DirectSM, an airport-to-airport service with a one-to-three-day delivery timeframe, and UPS Air Freight ConsolidatedSM, an airport-to-airport service with a three-to-five-day delivery timeframe. Both services are available worldwide and include pickup, delivery, and customs clearance as optional services. The services are extremely flexible, as freight shipments can move either via UPS aircraft or third-party aircraft.

Additionally, UPS is introducing online day-specific scheduling for customers whose freight moves on third-party aircraft. This level of predictability was a significant missing link in the air freight market.

Along with the enrichment of its service portfolio, UPS continues to expand its technological capabilities for freight management, offering convenient access and transparency to small package shippers who also need to manage air freight shipments.
