New Schenker branches in Spain

Schenker has acquired Spain-TIR, a Spanish logistics service provider. As a result, Schenker’s land transport network has expanded by 72 new locations on the Iberian Peninsula, along with a wide range of international road transport services. In the local market, customers’ goods reach recipients through 350 daily, regular road connections.

– By combining Spain-TIR’s strong transport network and international transport services with Schenker’s global network, we can provide our customers with a clear competitive advantage – emphasizes Hans-Jörg Hager, member of the Schenker AG board responsible for European land transport. – Our customers can benefit from comprehensive service in Europe – from Portugal to Siberia and from Finland to Sicily – provided from a single source.

Trade and industrial companies in Spain and Portugal, by utilizing Schenker’s dense European network, gain the ability to cooperate more efficiently with their customers in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe by delivering goods based on a fixed schedule. As a result, new markets are opening up. At the same time, building on the benefits of integration, the logistics operator is developing its range of additional international services, e.g., for the French market. It is one of the most important markets for the Spanish economy. Schenker and Spain-TIR can already boast many years of fruitful cooperation in this direction.

The integration process of Spain-TIR and Schenker, as well as the further development of this Spanish company employing over 1,500 people, will be supervised by members of the management of both companies. They are chaired by Lluís Gay i Mundó – President of Spain-TIR and simultaneously President of the new company Schenker Iberica SA. The management team also includes: Jaume Ballester (Spain-Tir), Joël Moebel (Regional Director for Western Europe at Schenker AG), Dr. Hans-Jörg Rodi (Financial Director of the Western Europe Region at Schenker AG), and Hans-Jörg Hager (member of the Schenker AG board responsible for European land transport).

The management team faces a very important task – the integration of the thriving service enterprise Spain-TIR and Schenker’s European and global network while maintaining the highest quality standards. Furthermore, the team will strive to ensure that customers in Spain and Portugal have access to the full range of services offered by Schenker as quickly as possible.
