– An IT manager who can only observe individual aspects of a Wi-Fi network does not have sufficient insight into the overall health of the system – said Sujai Hajela, Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise WLAN at Motorola Enterprise Mobility. – The Motorola RF Management Suite is more than the sum of its solutions – it provides a holistic view of the network while simplifying its management.
Motorola developed the RF Management Suite with the specific network management requirements of modern enterprise mobility systems in mind. The complete solution consists of:
– Motorola LAN Planner – a solution ensuring optimal performance, tailored to the application and technological needs of the company, the deployment environment, and growth strategies. It allows administrators creating Wi-Fi network plans to easily import building maps and enter information about throughput and coverage. Once the WLAN is deployed, system integrators can export its design to the RF Management Software.
– Motorola RF Management – software offering an intuitive, graphical representation of the WLAN. Combined with the building plan imported from the LAN Planner, it allows network managers to verify whether the network was deployed according to the design, and clients to monitor key network performance indicators. The visual representation provides quick insight into the overall health of the network, highlights elements requiring closer investigation, and allows for diagnosing problems. All these operations can be performed from a central location or a mobile device.
– Motorola Wireless Intrusion Protection System (Wireless IPS) – a system that detects and locates rogue devices, prevents intrusions into the WLAN, and protects it against denial-of-service (DoS) attacks.
Many corporate networks are subject to certain government regulations and corporate policies – such as HIPAA, PCI, and Sarbanes-Oxley, which impose data protection obligations on companies. A unique feature of Wireless IPS is the ability to create reports and analyses by collecting system activity data. The ability to replay events and provide evidence of compliance with applicable standards can save enterprises thousands of dollars in fines if system integrity is compromised.
– Motorola Mobility Services Platform (MSP) RF Management Edition – the central element of the RF Management Suite, providing an interface for all monitoring, analytical, and security tools. Thanks to this solution, administrators can (in addition to monitoring WLAN infrastructure) track all mobile devices using the network. Specific devices can be blocked in case of loss or theft.
Motorola’s enterprise WLAN solutions allow for free movement within a building and between buildings. They include products such as thin, fat, and mesh access points, wireless switches, and RF switches that can manage up to 3,000 access points.
Motorola’s new solutions are part of the MOTOwi4 portfolio of innovative wireless products and services that complement traditional IP networks. MOTOwi4 provides IP connectivity in virtually any area, indoors or outdoors. The portfolio also includes fixed broadband, mesh networks, broadband over power lines, and WiMAX.
