DCT Gdansk has completed the 1st phase of the investment

Work has been completed on the First Phase of the construction of Poland’s newest container terminal, DCT Gdansk. The completion of this stage of the investment will be marked by a ceremony on board the cruise ship Lady Assa. During the meeting, which will take place on October 3rd, in addition to the board and management of DCT Gdansk, representatives of the authorities, the City Hall and the Port of Gdansk, as well as the international shipping community and engineers involved in the construction of the terminal, will be present.

With the First Phase of the terminal fully ready to handle ships, DCT Gdansk recently announced the start of weekly calls to the terminal by vessels of leading container carriers – the ocean-going CMA CGM and the feeder operator Team Lines. Also, the Lithuanian shipping line, ISN, recently launched regular, weekly connections with its feeder vessels between DCT Gdansk and Kaliningrad. On October 3rd, the Team Lines feeder ship Birkaland (868 TEU) will dock at the terminal’s quay, allowing guests to see how the terminal operates.

The fully operational First Phase of DCT Gdansk consists of a 36-hectare container terminal capable of handling 500,000 TEU annually and a ro-ro quay with an additional handling capacity of 160,000 units. The terminal’s pier quay is 650 m long and 16.5 m deep and is served by three post-Panamax ship-to-shore cranes and five rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes. Thanks to a new road and railway line connecting the terminal with logistics centers in Poland and neighboring countries, DCT Gdansk is able to offer a new quality in container transport services.

The Second Phase of the terminal, which will increase the handling capacity to 1,000,000 TEU annually, will be implemented in line with the growing demand for such services.
