In the previously published parts of the article, warehouse infrastructure related to the storage of goods was discussed, which includes warehouse structures and warehouse equipment: for storage, air conditioning and ventilation, fire protection, or security. This part will discuss equipment related to the movement of goods that has an impact on their storage.
Auxiliary equipment
Some auxiliary equipment used during the implementation of warehousing processes has an undeniable influence on the storage conditions of raw materials, materials, or finished products. These include:
– loading pallets – devices intended for placing loads on or in them, adapted for mechanized movement as palletized load units
– large containers (ISO series 1 containers) – load-carrying devices with a gross mass exceeding 10,000 kg, meeting ISO standard requirements at the time of their manufacture.
The selection of loading pallets has a particular impact on the storage conditions of raw materials, materials, or finished products on them, because improperly formed palletized load units (PLUs) can cause damage to the cargo. Consequently, this may lead to changes in the quality and/or functional properties of the assortments stored on the pallets.
