On April 16, 2007, EPCglobal announced the international EPCIS (Electronic Product Code Information Services) standard, which guarantees unprecedented ability to track the movement and location of assets, goods, and services worldwide. By providing a standard set of interfaces for EPC data, EPCIS enables data to be captured and shared in a simple way, while allowing flexibility for industry- and organization-specific implementations.
Articles published in “Logistyka” have so far presented issues related to the operating principles of EPC technology, standards for data recording in the EPC tag, the EPCglobal architecture, as well as examples of pilot implementations around the world. This article focuses particular attention on one of the most important elements of the EPCglobal network – EPCIS.
The article comes from the “Logistyka” magazine 3/2007.
