Over the last dozen or so years, the United States economy has begun to emerge from recession, which is influenced, among other things, by the increasing growth in consumption. There is a very high demand for overseas products, especially cheaper ones from Asia (mainly manufactured in China). The growing demand for Chinese products creates greater needs in terms of transport and transshipment, which favors the development of seaports, international airports, as well as infrastructure in the regions where they are located. Along with the development of ports, the development of logistics centers operating in their area is also progressing.
Today’s conditions in the field of transport and forwarding practically force the development of logistics technologies implemented by logistics centers. Simply storing products in transit is no longer enough. When organizing the movement of a shipment, it is also necessary to ensure its proper assembly, packaging, labeling, etc. It is also important to track shipments and their current location. All these activities are taken over by the logistics center.
The article, based on an analysis of the economic development of the United States of North America, presents the role and importance of the port logistics center in Long Beach. The external and internal conditions of its functioning as well as the economic and ecological aspects of its operation were determined.
