The monitoring of e-economy development in the countries of our continent, conducted for many years by the European Commission, enables the collection of increasingly numerous sets of data and information year by year regarding changes occurring in the economy under the influence of modern telecommunications technologies. Thanks to this, these changes can be expressed numerically and compared between countries, sectors, and enterprises of various sizes.
The results of systematic annual studies also allow for broader generalizations and conclusions regarding the importance of new technologies for the development of the economy, not just the electronic one. All generalizations take into account to a high degree the point of view of enterprises, which are the main entity of economic development. In these studies, particular interest is focused on the problem of the impact of ICT applications on various areas of life: on economic results, organization, employment, staff qualifications, and the efficiency of economic processes.
