Motorola Inc. has introduced the MC17 mobile computer, a third-generation solution designed for the retail industry. With this new device, customers can obtain comprehensive information about the products they are looking for, and store employees can effectively manage store inventory data.
The MC17 is ideal for retail environments, including wholesale stores, grocery supermarkets, and pharmacies, enabling customers to speed up the checkout process, locate items more easily, check prices, find complementary products, and receive personal recommendations and tailored promotions. The device can also serve as a tool to increase store employee productivity by providing them with access to various applications for warehouse management, price verification, and queue reduction. Furthermore, the MC17 computer can be used to manage gift registries in supermarkets and specialty stores.

– The introduction of the new MC17 mobile computer is part of Motorola’s long history of innovation and demonstrates the company’s commitment to offering retailers around the world solutions that help meet the growing demands of customers. – said Mark Self, Vice President of Retail Solutions at Motorola’s Enterprise Mobility division.
The MC17 mobile computer is available with the Service from the Start with Comprehensive Coverage service, developed by Motorola Enterprise Mobility Services. This multi-year service agreement simplifies the repair process, covering repairs for accidental damage to screens, keyboards, and other internal and external components – at no additional cost.
The MC17 runs on the Microsoft® Windows® CE 5.0 operating system, offering a familiar and intuitive interface. Support for Motorola’s advanced PocketBrowser solution allows developers to build mobile applications that integrate enterprise functions, such as barcode scanning and mobile printing, without complex coding requirements or CE programming experience.
The MC17 model will be available for order in the third quarter of 2007 through Motorola’s sales department, as well as through the company’s business partners in North America, Europe, and selected regions of Asia Pacific.
