Team Lines to call at DCT Gdansk

DCT Gdansk, the newest Polish container terminal currently under construction, has signed an agreement with Team Lines, a major Baltic feeder operator. Under the agreement, the shipowner will initiate regular calls to the terminal, which will allow for handling growing cargo volumes and interest from freight forwarders.

– Keeping our promise that a modern deep-water container terminal on the Baltic would be built on time and within budget, we are very pleased that Team Lines has decided to start cooperation with us. – said Colin Chanter, CEO of the terminal, in a comment. – It fills us with confidence that a shipowner with a stable position has recognized the benefits that DCT Gdansk offers at such an early stage. We are looking forward to our cooperation and I know that we will provide proper service both in handling and on the yard.

DCT Gdansk will begin operations on June 1st with two post-Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and three rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes. The new road and railway line connecting DCT Gdansk with the country’s transport infrastructure are already completed. By October 2007, the terminal will operate with three STS cranes and five RTG cranes, which, together with appropriate yard facilities and additional operating equipment, will provide an annual handling capacity of 500,000 TEU.
