38 countries – one connection

Following the successful completion of a two-month pilot phase, Kuehne + Nagel has officially launched a European network connection group with daily transport services between 38 countries across the entire continent.

The connections are based on a central hub in Haiger (Germany) and seven regional hubs in: Barcelona (Spain), Birmingham (England), Milan (Italy), Malmo (Sweden), Paris (France), Warsaw (Poland), and Vienna (Austria).

The daily service connecting these hubs, as well as between the hubs and 80 KN branches linked to this network, ensures fast transport across 38 European countries. Kuehne + Nagel is now able to offer competitive transit times for shipments over 2.5 tons, covering the area from Portugal to Estonia and from Norway to Turkey. Domestic distribution is managed by individual Kuehne + Nagel national branches, with the exception of those seven countries where KN cooperates with local market leaders. All processes are supported by a unified IT system, which ensures a high level of productivity and the ability to track shipments online. Further services include specially developed calculation and simulation tools for easy access to information regarding transit times and costs, which are intended to significantly facilitate logistics process planning for customers.

– The creation of our European network of connections is a key step into the future and concerns the development of our ambitious medium-term strategy to place KN among the market leaders in European road transport – said Ewald Kaiser, member of the Management Board of Kuehne + Nagel International AG responsible for rail and road logistics.
