The integration of logistics with the technique and technology of material flow and with computer-structured information technology means that IT systems are not only becoming an integral part of logistics subsystems, but are also increasingly serving as a platform for rationalizing the entire supply chain. Planning and controlling modern logistics processes is fully based on information technology.
Current progress in the design, construction, operation, and computerization of information systems is a fundamental condition for the development of logistics. The flow of information in the shortest possible time serves both decision-making and executive purposes. There is no doubt that the basis of an optimal logistics system is fast and accurate information. Simulation and visualization techniques, as well as control and supervision of implemented logistics processes, serve these purposes.
The essence of computer visualization of a process lies in representing it in the form of animated text and graphic objects displayed on a monitor screen using information engineering techniques. Software packages serving these purposes are called visualization software.
