Schenker has certified its Information Security Management System

Schenker in Poland is taking steps to continuously improve the Information Security Management System that has been in operation at the company since 2001. At the turn of 2006 and 2007, the company completed the certification process for this system, thus becoming the first logistics operator in Poland to hold an Information Security Management Certificate. The audit conducted by an independent certification body, Det Norske Veritas (DNV), was preceded by a thorough internal audit.

Schenker in Poland operates within an Integrated Quality, Safety, and Environmental Management System, which covers a full suite of standards: ISO 9001:2000, ISO 140001-1996, PN-N 18001:2004, OHSAS 18001:1999, and the new ISO 27001:2005 standard.

The main aspects of the Information Security Management System at Schenker include ensuring that only authorized persons have access to information (this also involves defining such persons within the company) and guaranteeing integrity, i.e., the consistency of information and the systems that process it. At the same time, the System, which is often most important from the customers’ point of view, guarantees the protection of data confidentiality.
– These are the three key aspects of information security that influence the quality of services. Meeting them enables the reduction of risks associated with information security for our clients, and thus lowers their operating costs – explains Norbert Bączyk, Head of Information Security at Schenker Sp. z o.o.
