Logistics center for the Greater Poland region – needs and implementation possibilities – part 2

Current implementation possibilities
Greater Poland is still waiting for an international-scale logistics center with a rail container terminal. There are two possibilities. Either a logistics center with full infrastructure will be built, or the concept should be changed to build a distributed logistics center.
In the first case, an implementation model consisting of the following elements emerges:
1. A rail container terminal as an element integrating this center with the network of European logistics centers.
2. A customs terminal for handling trade between the European Union and countries of Eastern Europe and Asia.
3. Logistics services sector.
4. Production and technology park.
5. Distribution sector.
6. Ancillary services.
In the second case, the implementation model could take the following form:
1. A rail container terminal with facilities in the form of storage yards for containers and semi-trailers, as well as a rental center for containers, pallets, and other transport packaging, and returnable bulk containers.
2. Similar to the first variant – a customs terminal.
3. A zone for individual investments on an area significantly smaller than in the first variant, where land is made available for new investments by logistics operators.
4. An online logistics services platform integrating the logistics services market around the logistics center.
Against this background, it is worth considering possible locations for the Greater Poland logistics center.
Location 1 Poznań – Franowo:
– the location is good, provided that the third communication ring road and the motorway connector, which would connect the logistics center with the A2 motorway, are completed
– land ownership fragmentation will be a serious obstacle to the implementation of the investment
– land prices in the indicated location may threaten the implementation of the investment
– the attitude of local authorities will be a significant factor in the success or failure of the investment.
