Schenker air freight handles Porsche
At the end of January, a spectacular operation took place at Leipzig-Halle Airport – 35 second-generation Porsche Cayenne cars were loaded into the cargo hold of an Antonov 124-100 aircraft. The flight from Germany to Mexico was scheduled for 3:00 PM in connection with a special presentation to be held in Mexico. Due to time constraints, the manufacturer decided to transport the new models by plane. The entire air operation was carried out for a total of 121 Cayenne vehicles.

Schenker air freight handles Porsche The company responsible for carrying out the entire logistics project was Schenker Deutschland AG, which has already handled Porsche cargo by air several times. In this case, the Antonov 124-100 was an excellent solution. This aircraft, with a length of 69 meters and a wingspan of 73 meters, is the largest mass-produced transport aircraft in the world.
Serial production of the second-generation Cayenne cars began at the Porsche plant in Leipzig in December 2006. The introduction of the new Cayenne models to the European, Middle Eastern, and Japanese markets was scheduled for February 24, 2007. Their entry into the North and South American markets, as well as the Asia-Pacific region, is planned for March 3. Transport of vehicles to overseas markets will take place according to Porsche standards – by rail and sea, and to European markets – by road and rail transport.
