Poland Central – the largest logistics park in Central and Eastern Europe

In mid-February of this year, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for Poland Central, a new investment by the E2 fund, owned by Investkredit and the EBRD, and managed by the company Europolis. The first warehouse, with an area of 43,000 sq. m, will be completed in July 2007. The value of the entire investment, which is scheduled for completion in 2014, will amount to 172 million Euros.

The ceremony initiating the project was attended by, among others: the head of the Grabica municipality, where the investment is located, the mayor of Piotrków Trybunalski, as well as representatives of the company Europolis, which is the project investor, and representatives of the general contractor, Kajima Europe. Upon completion of the entire investment, the logistics park will feature 20 halls with a total usable area of 500,000 sq. m.

–This is a very important day in the history of the Grabica municipality, because it is changing its character. From a municipality with dynamic agricultural development, it is also becoming a center where the largest warehouse and distribution center in Poland will be located – said Edwarda Wójcik, head of the Grabica municipality.

–Without the Poland Central investment, it would be difficult to talk about the development of the city and the region. I believe that the investment will contribute to young, well-educated people, prepared to work in specific specialized professions, staying here. I believe that thanks to Poland Central, new investments will also be created, which will provide young people with opportunities for development – said Krzysztof Chojniak, mayor of Piotrków Trybunalski.

– I believe that after the completion of the Poland Central investment, it will become the largest logistics center in the country and will play a key role in the future of the Europolis company in Poland. Working on such an important project is a huge honor and pleasure for our company. We will make every effort to complete this project safely and on time and, most importantly, to the full satisfaction of Europolis with the cooperation with Kajima – stated Katsumi Shibasaki, Director of Kajima Europe B.V.

Bartłomiej Hofman, Managing Director of Europolis Real Estate Asset Management sp. z o.o. said: – I am extremely proud that we can implement such a unique logistics project, which is located in a strategic location both from the perspective of Poland. I believe that this project will not only be a commercial success for us, but will also bring economic benefits not only to the immediate vicinity, but also to the entire region.

The Poland Central logistics park is located on a plot of 120 hectares. The facility is situated 47 km south of Łódź and 137 km southwest of Warsaw. The facility is located near the A1 expressway, connecting Warsaw with Katowice and the Silesian macro-region. The central location enables convenient connections with Gdańsk, Kaliningrad in Russia, and the Baltic republics in the north; the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary in the south. In this way, a strategic logistics center will be created, ideally situated not only for companies from Poland, but also from all of Central and Eastern Europe.

The construction of Poland Central will contribute to the further development of the Łódź Voivodeship, already appreciated by such international companies as IKEA, Unilever, Kaufland, Ahold, and Auchan. It is estimated that upon its completion, nearly 6,000 new jobs will be created. The investment will also allow for the strengthening of Poland’s central location in Europe.
