Schenker has launched a fourth weekly regular connection between its hubs in Frankfurt and Wrocław as part of its air freight offering. This solution effectively contributes to shortening delivery times for shipments to recipients in Poland
Shipments within the air freight service operated by Schenker often reach the recipient in Poland using multimodal transport – in this case, a combination of air and road transport. In Schenker’s air network, for imports to Poland, shipments from all over the world are first delivered by air to the hub (consolidation center) in Frankfurt. Then, the goods are transported by truck from Frankfurt to the Schenker hub in Wrocław, from where they reach recipients across the country on the third day via the company’s domestic logistics network. Customers interested in the air distribution of their goods are eager to use Schenker’s multimodal offer. It is efficient and also attractive in terms of costs.
– Until November 2006, there were three regular connections between the hubs in Frankfurt and Wrocław. They were operated three times a week. To increase the speed of shipment processing on this route, Schenker launched a fourth regular connection between Frankfurt and Wrocław in November. – says Wojciech Puzyński, Head of the Air Freight Office at Schenker Sp. z o.o. – This solution was intended to shorten by one day the delivery time for shipments to recipients in Poland that arrived at the Frankfurt hub on Sunday. Thanks to the connection operated on Monday, shipments will reach the recipient in Poland on Wednesday, instead of Thursday as was the case previously. – adds Wojciech Puzyński.
The introduction of the fourth regular connection in November was also related to the peak season in air freight handling that falls during this period. Thanks to the four regular connections between the Frankfurt and Wrocław hubs, the delivery process is faster and more efficient.
In addition to the Frankfurt – Wrocław route, for imports, air cargo via Schenker also arrives at Warsaw’s Okęcie airport. Regarding goods exported from Poland, the vast majority are handled by Schenker’s Warsaw hub.
