Another book by Jerzy Majewski, author of the very well-received IT for Logistics, not only among logistics professionals, has just hit the publishing market. The new publication is IT in the Warehouse. As the title suggests, readers will find a continuation and expansion of the topics covered in the previous work by this well-known expert in the field of information systems supporting enterprise management.
Many studies have been written about warehousing, but they have mainly characterized it in terms of technical and organizational aspects. The content contained in J. Majewski’s book provides a significant supplement to the issues of warehousing processes, but viewed this time from an IT perspective. Systematizing the principles of warehousing in this way is a new quality for the field to which the announced work is dedicated. The author emphasizes that without IT techniques, supported by automatic identification and data collection techniques, it would not be possible to achieve many previously unused solutions in warehouse organization. The author’s goal was to provide a generalized presentation of warehouse processes in the context of their support by a WMS (Warehouse Management System) class IT system, which is capable of “adapting” to the multitude of warehousing variants occurring in practice.

The book, which is published in the LOGISTICS LIBRARY series, is addressed both to management teams of manufacturing and distribution companies, as well as to those supervising the storage of materials in supply chains.
