The value of logistics information systems and their impact on the performance of the logistics system and the efficiency of logistics processes were the main topics of the 4th nationwide conference from the “IT in Logistics” series, organized on November 7, 2006, at the Logistics Group logistics center in Urzut near Warsaw by the IT Promotion Center. The thematic scope of the meeting covered IT systems in logistics management at the strategic and operational levels of business activity, and company presentations allowed the 40 conference participants to learn about best practices and successes in this field. Representatives of the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing, SAS Institute, and SOFTLAB shared their experiences, and the event was moderated by Dr. Eng. Bogusław Śliwczyński (ILiM). The President of Logistics Service SA1, Jarosław Lewandowski, took on a dual role: in addition to a presentation dedicated to the quality and efficiency of logistics processes and the definitions and values of indicators, he showed the conference participants the office area and one of the CL Logistics Group warehouses, discussing specific examples of the application of certain logistics solutions used by the company. Logistics Group has been operating for years in logistics related to the automotive industry; it also provides services for other industries, offering comprehensive logistics support. In 2007, the construction of a new warehouse complex with office facilities and a company training center will begin, with a target area of 60,000 m2.
