The College of Logistics in Poznań has established cooperation with secondary schools providing education in the professions of freight forwarder technician and logistics technician. The goal of these activities is to identify problems and assist in overcoming them through lasting cooperation with teachers and school principals during the implementation of the educational process in the field of logistics at the secondary school level.

In the first stage of activities, a survey was developed in the form of assessment sheets for each of the specialized subjects resulting from the curriculum in these two professions. WSL lecturers, together with secondary school teachers, will attempt to answer 3 questions: do the curricula for the professions of freight forwarder technician and logistics technician meet the requirements set out in educational standards, are they adapted to the age and intellectual capabilities of the student, are they feasible for teachers to implement, and do they meet the needs of future employers; do the curricula have sufficient support in the form of textbooks, exercise sets, equipment with teaching aids, laboratories, etc.; do teachers have sufficient substantive preparation to teach specific specialized subjects, or do they need support in the form of supplementary courses or postgraduate studies.

Based on the results obtained, the College of Logistics plans to take action to provide real help to schools and teachers. If it turns out to be necessary, the University will propose changes to the curriculum to the educational authorities. WSL is also considering organizing training, seminars, and postgraduate studies for teachers. The WSL initiative is an innovative attempt on a national scale to identify the problems of logistics education at the secondary school level, improving secondary education in this profession and broadening awareness of obtaining an attractive profession for which great market opportunities are currently opening up. Meeting these needs, the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing has published “Fundamentals of Logistics” – the first textbook in Poland for secondary schools regarding logistics issues, which may also be useful for people who want to expand their knowledge on this subject, with which they have not had contact before.
