ProLogis opened a new logistics park in Chorzów on October 12, 2006 (4 km from the center of Chorzów and 1.5 km west of Katowice). Ultimately, the facility will consist of 7 buildings with a total area of 146,500 sqm. The construction of ProLogis Park Chorzów was divided into two stages. The first, comprising three buildings with an area of 84,240 sqm, was completed in the third quarter of 2006. The completion of the second stage of construction is planned for 2007. The complex will then be expanded by another 4 buildings with a total area of 62,246 sqm. The decision to build the park in Silesia was influenced, among other things, by the highest density of roads and railway lines in Poland in this region and the proximity of the A4 motorway. Approximately 1,000 people will find work at ProLogis Park Chorzów (including employees transferred from other locations). This is one of the most modern investments of this type in Poland. The park has been adapted to the needs of logistics, distribution, light production, and cold storage of food. More than 86% of the space created during the first stage of the investment has already been leased. Clients of ProLogis Park Chorzów include: two companies belonging to the Raben Group (28,700 sqm of space), FM Logistics (18,728 sqm of space), Reporter (13,400 sqm of space), Ponetex Logistics (4,170 sqm of space), Wilhelm Karmann GmbH (3,686 sqm of space), and the company C. Hartwig Gdynia (3,456 sqm of warehouse space).
