The small number of logistics distribution centers in Poland (of various types) prompts the need for rapid construction of such facilities, which requires immediate determination of their locations (in accordance with environmental protection requirements), in close connection with the motorway system, as well as initiating their construction.
Transnational approach to logistics in an enterprise
The emergence of a large European market, thanks to the establishment of the European Union, has created new phenomena and triggered new trends in the development of logistics. By 2000, significant changes occurred and continue to occur, directly affecting the development of logistics processes, namely:
– an increase in international freight transport, which posed new challenges for all branches of transport and forced changes and modernization of transport infrastructure, as well as means of transport, in order to adapt it to the new scale of demand
– an increase in the speed of product flow on the scale of individual countries, as well as on a European scale
– the creation and development of new product distribution structures in connection with the expansion of the logistics system of new types of transport and information flow
– the creation of a logistics network of distribution centers to provide supply and transport services throughout Europe for selected products (e.g., spare parts); these centers enable delivery from supplier to recipient within 24 hours
– improving the quality of logistics services provided, which will be expressed primarily in increased reliability and timeliness of deliveries, full fulfillment of orders, etc.
– expanding the scope of logistics services offered by professional logistics service providers, e.g., warehousing and picking of supply assortments, execution of simple production operations (cutting, pre-assembly),
– providing information and decision-making services, demand forecasting, receiving and processing orders, maintaining information banks, etc.
– standardization and normalization of handling equipment, storage equipment, packaging, and transport means used in individual countries, ensuring ease of operation and reduction of production and operating costs.
