Logistics education, or straight to the CEL

Preparing employees to apply scientific principles of logistics in practice very quickly results in improved work organization, reduces costly inventory, makes a previously cramped warehouse suddenly seem sufficient, makes transport faster and cheaper, and most importantly, improves the level of customer service. To see what logistics training looks like in practice, we asked Małgorzata Drewnik, President of Centrum Edukacji Logistycznej Sp. z o. o. in Poznań.

Editorial – How long have you been involved in training?
M. Drewnik – As Centrum Edukacji Logistycznej Sp. z o. o., for 8 years, but previously we were the training department of the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing in Poznań (ILiM). After separating from their structures, the Institute transferred the entire sphere of education to us, remaining not only the main source of logistics knowledge but also exercising substantive supervision over us. It is also a significant shareholder in our company.
R. – What forms of disseminating logistics knowledge do you use in your work?
M. D. – Mainly these are training courses, but before I talk about them in more detail, I would like to point out that together with ILiM, we are the founders and owners of the first Post-Secondary School of Logistics and Forwarding in Poland and the first University of Logistics (WSL) in the country. WSL, in particular, enjoys great interest, and last year its first graduates left its walls. Returning to logistics training – our main service offered to the market – we have over 30 modules in our offer concerning broadly understood logistics. Their programs were created based on the standards of the European Logistics Association (ELA). 24-35 hour training courses are the most popular among open training courses. We also conduct closed training courses, upon specific request from companies. Then their program and duration depend on the needs of a given client and are adapted to their expectations. In July and August of this year, we are organizing the “Summer School of Logistics” once again – one-day training courses providing logistics knowledge from individual modules in a condensed form.
