Cash management in the service of corporations

In today’s commercial banking language, cash management is a buzzword, a term used by bank employees and clients so commonly and automatically that it sometimes turns out that both parties have something different in mind, and only a longer conversation leads to a standardization of terms, details, and expectations. The main problem arises with the English word “cash”. In a direct translation, it means cash, i.e., “physical” money in the form of coins or banknotes. And in this sense, cash management would actually mean only the improvements offered by a bank in the area of coordinating cash deposits, counting them, transport, etc. This is a very necessary service, especially for corporate clients whose business is largely based on cash payments (e.g., telephony, insurers, hypermarkets). However, this is not the whole picture of cash management, but only a certain segment of product capabilities. Cash management is a palette of products that improve the management of a company’s financial resources in its current account. Due to its specificity, the offer of cash management solutions is aimed at the corporate client. For a broader understanding of this term, the Polish translation lies somewhere between financial resource management and transactional banking and/or the handling of a client’s operating account. With such a translation, the cash management services offered by a bank to its corporate clients take on a broader character than just cash management handling – they refer to enabling clients to optimally manage their financial resources, efficiently execute payments, coordinate the inflow of receivables, and concentrate cash and non-cash funds.
