An interview with Joanna Wróbel, Project Manager of “Training for e-economy promoters in the distance learning system”.
Michał Koralewski: In the middle of last year, the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing signed an agreement with the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development to implement the project “Training for e-economy promoters in the distance learning system”.
What e-learning courses are you offering as part of this project on the www.e-bit.edu.pl platform?
Joanna Wróbel: The Institute of Logistics and Warehousing began distance learning courses in the field of e-economy back in December 2005. The series of training sessions we have prepared consists of 8 courses. You can choose the basic course “The Enterprise in the e-economy”, regarding the use of internet tools in a company, as well as supplementary courses: “Sales on the Internet”, “Finance in the e-economy”, “Logistics in the e-economy”, “Transactions in the e-economy”, “Law in the e-economy”, “e-Fulfilment”, and “e-Procurement”.
Each course includes 40 hours of online study over a period of 2 months and a final one-day meeting held at the ILiM headquarters in Poznań. In the latter case, the participant’s stay is funded as part of the project.
M.K.: Who are these training sessions aimed at?
J.W.: Our training is aimed at people who, in their daily activities, use or intend to use electronic tools for everyday cooperation with business partners. Employees of companies from the small and medium-sized enterprise sector, i.e., those with no more than 250 employees and a turnover not exceeding 50 million Euros, can take part in the e-learning courses. Of course, participation in the training is confirmed with a Certificate of completion.
M.K.: E-learning, although it appeared in Poland many years ago, does not yet enjoy as much interest as specialists from the electronic economy industry predicted.
J.W.: Yes, unfortunately, training via e-learning is still in its infancy in Poland, but studies on the effectiveness of using such solutions, conducted both by market analysts and companies providing distance learning solutions in the USA, indicate that companies that decided to purchase e-learning solutions achieved significant benefits as a result.
