Three electronic certification authorities – PCC Certum, the National Clearing House (KIR) (SZAFIR), and Sigillum – are taking joint steps towards popularizing the electronic signature in Poland. The first result of these joint efforts was the creation of a standard electronic invoice format. Such a template was finalized in June of this year in cooperation with the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing. It is adapted to Polish requirements and conditions and allows for the standardization of financial data exchange.
However, the use of electronic signatures on a wider scale will be possible after the Ministry of Finance launches the
e-POLTAX system, which allows for the submission of selected tax declarations via the Internet. – The launch of the e-POLTAX system
offers a chance to revitalize the electronic signature market even before May 2008 – explains Elżbieta Włodarczyk, Director of the Key Management Center at the National Clearing House (KIR). – That is precisely why, while remaining competitors, we are jointly supporting the public administration’s efforts in this area. e-POLTAX will be the second system in the administration, after GIIF, to accept certificates from centers operating in accordance with the Act on Electronic Signature. The centers provide technical components (cards, readers) that will be able to be used in the new system without any
problems. Certificates from all qualified
certification authorities operating in Poland will be accepted.
