Functionality study of websites for companies offering industrial trucks

Once again, we present to our readers a study on the functionality of websites – this time focusing on selected companies offering industrial trucks. We want to draw attention to the benefits that well-designed websites bring to companies in their relationships with current and potential customers. And the errors? They are simply worth fixing quickly.
We examined the websites of 18 companies involved in the production or distribution of industrial trucks. These sites are intended almost exclusively for the needs of business clients. One point was awarded for meeting a given criterion. The maximum number of points to be scored in the study was 24. The weakest site scored only 10 points, and the best result (20 points)
was achieved by four companies. The errors were divided into 4 groups. The first group defines the possibilities of establishing contact with the company, the second evaluates
selected aspects of site functionality, the third the level of difficulties encountered on the site, and the fourth shows the number of errors according to the W3C validator (World Wide Web Consortium – www.w3.org).

Below are some of the most frequently occurring errors. One of them is the use of a font on sites that is not scalable. This error is caused by the absolute

definition of font size in the page code. This means that regardless of the user’s computer screen resolution,
or their preferences regarding font sizes, the font will always have the same size. This is particularly burdensome for people with weaker eyesight.
