In the commercial real estate sector, the volume of investment transactions in Europe in the first 6 months of this year (amounting to EUR 86.9 billion) is 27% higher than in the same period of 2005, according to the latest research by Cushman & Wakefield. Although Europe recorded a decline in the volume of commercial real estate investment transactions in the second quarter of 2006 to below EUR 40 billion (compared to the peak value in the last quarter of 2005 – nearly EUR 50 billion), a record volume is expected for the full year. According to David Hutchings, Head of European Research at Cushman & Wakefield, the investment volume is expected to reach EUR 168 billion by the end of the year, with the UK’s share falling from 50% to below 40%, while Germany, France, and a number of emerging markets will see significant growth.
