Understanding logistics as the shaping of optimal material and information flow streams and their management is being applied more and more frequently today. One of the more significant issues in shaping material flow streams is defining the space where the loading and unloading of goods delivered by means of transport takes place. This space (a section of railway track, a sea quay, a loading yard, a truck ramp) is called a loading front. The technological solution for a loading front depends on the type of equipment and transport and handling means used, as well as on the applied loading work technology.
The article discusses selected aspects of choosing a technological solution for a loading front for a distribution warehouse. It is assumed that the function of external transport, carrying out deliveries and shipments, is performed exclusively by road transport. It is also assumed that the yard in front of the warehouse serves only maneuvering and parking functions (there is no loading of trucks with forklifts from the yard level).
