BCS Polska – an IT solutions integrator specializing in data acquisition, remote transmission, and management based on barcodes and RFID – has implemented a mobile warehouse management system based on a wireless network and Symbol Technologies mobile terminals at Wkręt-Met.
As part of the contract, which in its first stage covered the production hall and high-bay warehouses at Wkręt-Met’s headquarters, BCS Polska conducted a pre-implementation analysis, supplied and configured Auto ID equipment, and collaborated on integrating the solution with the IFS (ERP) system.
The wireless network installed at Wkręt-Met is based on the latest solution from Symbol Technologies – AP5131 access points. This device – acting simultaneously as a router, gateway, and DHCP server – ensures efficient data transmission by operating in 802.11a/b/g standards, in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Full encryption guarantees secure data transmission. Data is collected by employees using Symbol MC9090 mobile terminals. These high-quality mobile computers with barcode scanners are dedicated to work in demanding conditions, ensuring fast, error-free data collection, processing, and transmission. The software installed on the terminals was integrated with the IFS system via IFS Connect. Thanks to this, data such as warehouse flows and transfers, as well as product issues and receipts, are available in the system in real-time. This also allows, among other things, for a significant acceleration and improvement of inventory processes.
The most important business benefits resulting from the implementation of the solution include the acceleration of information flow, improvement of warehouse management, and the elimination of errors in these processes.
Wkręt-Met is the largest manufacturing plant in the fastening technology industry in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe. In Poland, the company has 11 of its own factory warehouses, each of which has a modern high-bay warehouse and a sales office. Wkręt-Met has a total warehouse area of over 10,000 sq. m. and over 16,000 sq. m. of production area in Poland.
