85,000 pallet spaces at the Schenker logistics center in Willebroek.

The expansion of the Schenker logistics center in Willebroek (Belgium) is underway. This facility will offer additional capacity for handling fast-moving consumer goods. In a few weeks, Schenker will open a logistics center with an area of 65,000 square meters, equipped with 56 loading docks. The total capacity of the terminal will be 85,000 pallet spaces, divided into four sectors.

The facility in Willebroek was launched in 2005. Currently, it covers an area of 51,000 square meters and handles 240,000 tons of goods and 23 million shipments annually.

– The expansion of the center will allow us even greater flexibility. Thanks to this, we will be able to cope more easily with demand from existing and new customers – stated Frans Broeckx, Director responsible for distribution at Schenker N.V.

The new, fourth section will have cooling units installed on the roof, ensuring that goods are stored and handled at the correct temperature. An area of 16,000 square meters has been reserved for goods requiring controlled temperature, of which 13,000 square meters will be maintained at 18° C, and 3,000 square meters will be kept at a constant temperature of 15° C. The new section will be equipped with a cold storage room of 700 square meters with a cooling temperature between 3 and 10° C.
