UPS has recently introduced a direct air connection between the UPS hub in Cologne, Germany, and Katowice-Pyrzowice, the main UPS airport in southern Poland. The launch of the direct flight allows UPS to increase its presence in the southern Poland region and partially in the Czech Republic by providing customers with better and faster delivery services.
Thanks to the new flight schedule, the earlier morning arrival of the plane from Cologne to Katowice-Pyrzowice allows UPS to deliver shipments to customers in Poland faster. At the same time, a later evening departure from Katowice-Pyrzowice to Cologne has been introduced, which gives customers more time to prepare their goods for shipment.
Until now, shipments between Katowice-Pyrzowice and Cologne were transported via Warsaw by two L 410 aircraft. Now, UPS has replaced them with one ATR 72 aircraft flying directly to Cologne, bypassing Warsaw. The ATR 72 aircraft is characterized by a maximum payload of 7.5 tons, which is more than twice the capacity of two combined L 410 aircraft. This also makes it possible to provide cargo services through UPS Supply Chain Solutions. Customers from the Czech region near Ostrava, who send their export shipments with UPS, also benefit from the new connection.
