Innovation according to DHL

Deutsche Post World Net, IBM, Intel, Philips, and SAP have announced the launch of the “DHL Innovation Concept”. The venture aims to increase supply chain efficiency by simplifying the flow of information and goods between business partners. To achieve this goal, the partner companies have decided to combine their experience in logistics, technology, and IT.

As part of the first joint projects, industry-specific RFID applications will be tested and subsequently implemented within the supply chains of the partner companies. Pilot projects have already begun in the pharmaceutical and electronics industries in Europe, the United States, and Asia. The first results of the projects are expected by the middle of this year.
– The constantly increasing flow of goods creates new challenges for the supply chain, which can be met by applying innovative business models, processes, and technologies. – said Martin Jetter, head of IBM Business Consulting Services Northeast Europe. – Our common goal is to exceed our customers’ expectations and work on new solutions. – added John Allan, member of the Board of Management of Deutsche Post World Net responsible for logistics.

The global initiative covers all elements relevant to modern logistics technologies. DHL – by offering customers solutions tailored to their needs in the field of express delivery and logistics – simultaneously provides know-how and experience in solutions for specific industries. Intel boasts many years of experience in developing innovative and market-leading computer, networking, and communication products. The shared knowledge base in software from SAP and IBM, along with their experience in system integration, provides a stable foundation for current and future business applications. The initiative has also been enriched by the addition of Philips, a provider of RFID technology.
