DHL Express has opened a modern terminal in Gdańsk. The value of the investment amounted to 3.3 million EUR.
The modern terminal in Gdańsk Kowale on Starowiejska Street will be able to handle up to 15,000 parcels per day. Thanks to the use of modern solutions in the facility, the “time window” will be extended, which is the time couriers spend serving customers. In practice, this means that DHL Express customers will now be able to send their shipments much later and receive them earlier than before.
– Our goal is comprehensive and fast customer service at the highest possible level. We strive to ensure that the investments we implement in Poland are a response to both changing economic conditions and the needs of our customers. – said Aleksander Morozowski, CEO of DHL Express.
Gdańsk, located at the intersection of important international transport routes, became a natural choice for DHL Express to locate one of the company’s most modern terminals. All facilities opened this year are part of the DHL Express strategy aimed at creating an integrated logistics network in Poland.
– When choosing this location, we were guided mainly by transport accessibility and the dynamic growth of shipment volume in the Tri-City area. The newly built terminal will increase transshipment capacity, which will allow us to provide our customers with the highest standard of service for both domestic and international shipments – added Aleksander Morozowski.
The terminal in Gdańsk is the fifth modern facility opened by DHL Express in 2005. The facility is equipped with 84 gates, including 12 for line haul transport, and a powered roller conveyor with a maximum capacity of 2,000 items per hour. The company has also launched terminals in Olsztyn, Rzeszów, Zielona Góra, and Wrocław. The newly opened facilities are part of the company’s existing integrated logistics network, which consists of 53 terminals and 3 sorting centers in Głuchowo near Poznań, in Zabrze, and in Warsaw.
