New Gefco connections

GEFCO Poland will close 2005 with nine new groupage lines. The GEFCO Group has a network of over five hundred groupage lines, 80 percent of which run daily. This is the third largest proprietary transport network in Europe.

In 2005, nine new international groupage lines were launched at GEFCO Poland, increasing the number of regular connections by twenty-eight departures per week. Particularly important are the new daily connections from Poland to Germany, where GEFCO’s main transit terminals are located. For example, Wuppertal alone is connected to the whole of Europe by a network of fifty-five regular groupage lines.

The new export lines connect Polish GEFCO branches with Stuttgart, Berlin, Wuppertal, Hamburg, Frankfurt, and the Baltic countries. In terms of imports, connections were opened from Padua and Vienna to Sosnowiec, and from Stuttgart to Poznań.

– Adding new regular connections to the existing GEFCO network has allowed us to transport goods cheaper and faster – both in imports and exports. Shipments for recipients in southern Germany are directed straight to Stuttgart, and for customers in the northern states and Scandinavia – to Hamburg – says Dorota Raben, Business Development Manager at GEFCO Poland. – In this way, we avoid wasting time and additional transport costs within Germany.

With the newly opened connections, GEFCO Poland now has a network of twenty-one permanent groupage lines. Most lines connect Poznań with Germany, France, Spain, and Portugal. Two permanent lines connect Great Britain and Germany with Grodzisk Mazowiecki. Sosnowiec has regular groupage connections with Austria, Germany, and Italy.
