MAN TGL “Truck of the Year 2005”

The MAN TGL series truck has won the “Truck of the Year 2005” title, awarded during the recently concluded European Road Transport Show 2005 in Amsterdam.

The jury, consisting of industry journalists from 19 European countries, voted almost unanimously for the light Trucknology Generation series. The MAN TGL received a total of 94 points – 55 points more than the next vehicle in the classification (Iveco Trakker).
The MAN TGL, a truck in the 7.5 to 12-ton class, had its world premiere this spring. Its design focused primarily on features such as economy, comfort, and safety. The fact that these goals were achieved is evidenced by its lead over the competition, as well as the jurors’ comments after the results were announced. – Such a large lead over the competition proves that this vehicle definitely surpasses the others – stated Andy Salter, the British chairman of the jury.

The success of the TGL series was certainly influenced by its attractive exterior design, as well as its comfortable interior, which provided an “environment for work and rest.” The visibility from inside the cab was also rated very highly, thanks to the lowered windshield and innovative mirrors, which significantly improve visibility, especially in urban traffic.

The “Truck of the Year” title has been awarded annually since 1977. MAN is the only company to have won this trophy six times. Previously in 1978 (MAN 19.280), 1980 (MAN 19.321), 1987 (MAN F90), 1995 (MAN F2000), 2001 (MAN TGA), and this year the MAN TGL.
