BASF has selected BCC to support the migration of its SAP system. The scope of BCC’s work covers SAP solutions used in five countries: Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary.
Until now, the corporate SAP system used by BASF companies in various countries was located in Germany. BASF is currently moving the SAP installation to the USA, while simultaneously supplementing and standardizing SAP solutions so that individual countries use a consistent and effective model of management support via the IT system. The part of the project concerning Central European countries is being carried out jointly by employees of the BASF SAP competence center located in Poland and the Poznań-based consulting company BCC. BASF employees and consultants from other countries are also involved in the project. BCC consultants will cooperate with BASF on, among other things, verifying and determining the functional scope for migration. The project scope also includes transferring the SAP configuration along with ABAP objects (standard SAP extensions used at BASF) and adapting them to the conventions and rules defined by system administrators in the USA. BCC’s work will also include preparing tests and testing the migrated functionality, preparing for the go-live, and providing support related to the launch of the new system.
– Managing such a complex IT project, which involves dozens of people from several countries and has a major impact on the company’s operations, is a significant challenge – comments Katarzyna Jedynak, Project Manager on behalf of BASF. – The complexity of the undertaking is also influenced by separate legal regulations in individual countries. In this case, the role of the implementation company is to take into account the legal specifics of all countries in the target corporate solution. That is why we decided to use the services of a company with extensive experience in corporate SAP implementations. Hence the choice of BCC as BASF’s leading partner for the Central European region.
The go-live after migration to the new system is scheduled for January 2006.
