GKN Driveline Polska has opened a new plant in Oleśnica near Wrocław, where it will manufacture steel joints for cars. The investment cost 60 million PLN, and serial production will begin as early as January 2006.
The new investment consists of a production hall with an area of 4,300 sqm and the latest technological line, which includes, among other things, a hot forging press and precision forming machines. The use of such modern technologies will allow for savings in raw materials and energy. The new industrial forge was built in the vicinity of the factory constructed by GKN Driveline Polska in 1999. Almost half of the production from the forge will go to this very plant, while the rest will go to factories in Germany for GM/Opel, VW, Ford, and Porsche projects, as well as to Spain for the Fiat project.
