In August, the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Information Forum was established in Berlin.
This independent organization was created on the initiative of companies representing various industries. The members of the Forum are: DHL Express, Gillette, GS1 Germany, Henkel, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intermec, Metro Group, Oracle, Philips, Procter & Gamble, SAP, Siemens, T-Systems, and Volkswagen. The new organization will work closely with the Fraunhofer Institute in Dortmund. The first chairman of the Forum is the director of this institute, Prof. Michael ten Hompel, who assures that the Forum will be a “platform for cooperation between representatives of politics, business, science, media, and users of the new technology”.
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is the identification of products, services, and processes using radio waves/radio frequency.
