Schenker, in order to ensure the highest standards of food transport, has implemented the international HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) management system.
The system is recognized as the most effective tool for guaranteeing that transported food will not be contaminated or polluted and will be safe for the consumer. The implementation process began in February 2005.
Some of the main objectives of the implementation are:
- guaranteeing food safety in transport and logistics services of the Schenker company in accordance with international HACCP standards,
- meeting the requirements and expectations of customers from the food industry and final consumers.
The first stage of work involved developing and implementing conditions for standard, guaranteed handling of goods containing food, as well as requirements resulting from the principles of Good Hygienic and Manufacturing Practice. In the following years, the company plans to implement a system guaranteeing the maintenance of controlled temperature and humidity at all stages of transport and storage of shipments.
In implementing the HACCP System, Schenker used consultations from top-class specialists from the National Food and Nutrition Institute in Warsaw.
HACCP, or the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points System, guarantees special supervision over transported food. In accordance with the new requirements, Schenker only accepts for transport shipments that are in sealed transport packaging, preventing direct contact with the transported food items. The vehicles are appropriately adapted for food transport. Drivers trained in food safety principles ensure that the goods reach their destination in an intact condition.
