Two-year contract for Wincanton

Heinz has awarded a two-year contract for value-added services for its products to Wincanton. The scope of the project includes repacking goods into promotional sets, quality control, and recovering good stock from damaged pallets.

Wincanton in the UK will be responsible for assembling products into promotional sets, e.g., creating so-called multipacks, checking the tightness of closures in the case of baby food, or pressure testing juice packaging to check for leakage protection.

A team of 50 Wincanton employees will be dedicated to value-added operations at Heinz’s automated National Distribution Centre in Wigan, covering an area of 350,000 sq ft, and at the Kitt Green Distribution Centre. Additionally, the team’s work will be supplemented daily by 50 to 100 employees, depending on requirements.

– Wincanton has become an integral part of our structure, serving to ensure the success of our business and our brands. In connection with providing warehousing services, the company is flexible enough to handle seasonal changes in demand for value-added services. Furthermore, the Wincanton team possesses excellent capabilities for checking the quality of our products. – said Stuart Alldridge, Warehousing and Distribution Manager for the UK and Ireland at Heinz.
