On July 11, Wincanton Trans European opened a modern warehouse at ProLogis Park Sosnowiec with an area of 16,500 sqm. This warehouse is Wincanton’s largest shared-user facility in southern Poland. At the same time, with its launch, Wincanton’s branches from Bielsko-Biała and Katowice were relocated to Sosnowiec.
The modern Wincanton warehouse in Sosnowiec currently has 14,000 pallet spaces (in the second phase, starting from October 2005, there will be 18,000) in high-bay racking, as well as 3,000 sqm of cross-dock space to support Wincanton’s distribution network in Poland.
Along with the opening of the warehouse, a new company branch in Sosnowiec began operations, with office space exceeding 500 sqm. As reported by Tomasz Oczkowski, Logistics and Development Director at Wincanton Trans European Poland, the company plans to relocate its facilities in Wrocław and Poznań later this year. Furthermore, the existing warehouse space in Łódź and Błonie near Warsaw will be expanded.
