Sanitec Koło distribution center is growing

The warehouse area at the distribution center of Sanitec Koło, a manufacturer and distributor of bathroom equipment, will more than double. The old halls will be demolished, and modern, significantly larger ones will be built in their place. During the groundbreaking ceremony held on July 6, 2005, the President of the Management Board, Marek Kukuryka, symbolically began the demolition work.

The new hall, with an area of 6,500 sqm, will be adapted for high-bay storage of bathroom ceramics, shower enclosures, and acrylic products. Storage areas will be expanded, and the number of loading ramps will double. Six modern docks with movable loading and unloading platforms will be built, which will allow for the handling of trucks and trailers regardless of their height. The facility will be integrated into the existing warehouse infrastructure and commissioned no later than February 2006.

The new investment is being created with the aim of improving service for our domestic and foreign customers. It also testifies to the growing role of Sanitec Koło as a manufacturer and distributor of products for Central and Eastern European countries – said Marek Kukuryka. – Thanks to this, it will be easier for us to operate in these markets and maintain the high position we have there. It is from Koło that shipments are sent to, among others, Ukraine, Russia, the Czech Republic, and all of Western Europe. The Koło distribution center has already been integrated into the Sanitec Group’s logistics system and is one of seven such centers in Europe.

The beginning of the distribution center in Koło was a high-bay warehouse hall with an area of 5,000 sqm, commissioned in January 1998. This is also where product assembly and packaging according to orders take place, as well as loading from the dispatch hall at the docks onto semi-trailer trucks. Both facilities, the existing one and the new one, will be functionally connected, and the implementation of a Warehouse Management System (WMS), based on radio terminals and barcode scanners, will further streamline logistics processes.

The concept and assumptions for the project were prepared with the support of the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing from Poznań. The general contractor is the company CEZBED from Wrocław.
