In June, the book “Road Transport Law” by Władysław Górski and Edward Mendyk hit the bookstores. The textbook contains a synthetically developed overview of current land transport law regulations, primarily road and rail, presented in a clear and accessible manner. The authors have incorporated numerous legal changes that have occurred in recent years in connection with adapting the Polish legal system to the standards adopted in the European Union (legal status as of January 1, 2005). The textbook includes basic normative acts in force in the field of land transport (an excerpt from the Civil Code, the Transport Law Act) as well as some templates for transport documents. The book covers, among other things, the following issues: principles of carrier liability for the transport of shipments, international rail transport law, legal issues of freight transport, pursuing claims in transport, and elements of transport insurance.
In the preface to the book, we read: “The textbook is designed in such a way that it can serve students of both law and economics. It can also serve economic practice. This applies especially to small and medium-sized entrepreneurs who do not have permanent legal support and must deal with complicated transport law problems on their own. This concerns both carriers or freight forwarders, as well as companies using transport services, for whom such assistance is particularly needed.”
