New monitoring system

GE offers its customers trailers equipped with the new GE VeriWise™ monitoring system. Thanks to satellite technology, it tracks the location of trucks from a bird’s-eye view. Key trailer monitoring technologies are developed by a special GE team in the United States. It also collaborates with the company’s European division. According to the company’s estimates, by the end of 2005, GE will have installed over 25,000 GE VeriWise units in the USA.

– We were pleased that GE is offering satellite trailer monitoring technology in Europe – said Wilko Maas from Christian Salvesen. – We thoroughly tested the GE VeriWise system on our equipment and are delighted with the results. This system allows us to ensure the safety of transported goods and provide services at a higher level, enabling customers to observe the location of trucks transporting their goods.

On the European market, the GE VeriWise™ satellite monitoring system is available in three different versions aimed primarily at the transport and logistics segment. Thanks to GE’s cooperation with TIP Trailer Services customers (part of GE Equipment Services), the offered products meet the strictest requirements for transported goods. Furthermore, all three types of trailers provide excellent vehicle location identification.

GE VeriWise™ technology allows fleet operators to locate lost or stolen trailers, reuse immobilized units, and verify billing and subcontractor activities. The web-based management solution provides 24/7 access to fleet information, eliminating the need for phone contact with the driver. Real-time trailer monitoring provides information on speed, distance traveled, driving time, stops, etc. Customers can also program sensors so that doors can remain open for a specified time without triggering an alarm.
