The Polish branch of TNT Express is introducing a biological material transport service to its standard offering. Clinical Express provides express transport for items such as clinical samples, organs for transplantation, and bodily fluids. The priority is speed and ensuring the safety of the transported substances – TNT enables their transport at controlled temperatures.
– TNT Express transports over 700,000 shipments annually for the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, and medical sectors worldwide. The Clinical Express service is used by research laboratories, pharmaceutical and biomedical companies, hospitals, and clinics, and now this option is available to facilities in Poland – says Rafał Dziura, Marketing and Sales Director at TNT Express Poland. – An important feature of the service is the fact that TNT relieves customers of the burdensome necessity of contacting multiple suppliers to obtain special inserts for maintaining a constant temperature, packaging the shipment, and transporting it.
The Clinical Express service consists of the experience of specialists from the Medical Coordination Centre, the flexibility of the offered service options, and specialized packaging. The Medical Coordination Centre is a dedicated TNT structure responsible for handling shipments containing biological material. Specially trained personnel coordinate the transport of shipments and provide 24/7 advice on choosing the right packaging or service option: standard or specialized. The first of these – Clinical Express Network – guarantees the service is carried out via TNT Express’s integrated air and road network. Thanks to a highly developed structure of connections carried out by the company’s fleet, the shipment will reach the recipient within 48 hours. Another option – Clinical Express Exclusive – offers customization of the service to the individual needs of the client, 24/7 and anywhere in the world. This service is intended for extremely important and urgent shipments that must reach the recipient within 24 hours. This option allows, among other things, for the service to be carried out by a dedicated courier.
No less important elements of Clinical Express are certified packages that meet IATA (International Air Transport Association) requirements. Their design depends on the contents – e.g., in the case of substances requiring transport at a controlled temperature, Medpak THERMO packaging is used. Its outer layer is made of polystyrene, and inside there is a cooling insert (used in the transport of materials requiring low temperatures) or so-called “dry ice” (carbon dioxide in solid form – used for substances that must be frozen during transport). The packaging also contains a plastic container equipped with bubble wrap and moisture-absorbing material. The whole thing is placed in cardboard packaging in TNT colors, with special markings. Medpak THERMO guarantees a constant temperature for 72 or 96 hours (depending on the type of packaging chosen).
