The Royal Frans Maas Group has acquired a 20 percent stake in one of the largest Russian freight forwarding companies – STS Logistics.
The company has signed an agreement with one of the largest Russian logistics operators, STS Logistics. Cooperation with this partner will expand the base of Frans Maas, which is also present on the Polish market, by over 30 new offices in the Russian Federation and CIS countries.
Since its establishment in 1999, STS Logistics has built the largest network of offices – over 30 – in Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The company’s offices are also located in the USA, Germany, Japan, and China. The company employs 250 people and generates an annual turnover of 80 million USD.
– Cooperation with companies that are thriving in local markets is the most effective way to expand our freight forwarding offer – says Krzysztof Trześniewski, President of Frans Maas Poland. – Such companies best understand the market in which they operate and know the requirements of local clients. Due to the complex logistics structure and the specifics of legal regulations in Russia, the ability to navigate this market is particularly important.
Currently, Frans Maas has acquired a 20% stake in STS Logistics with the intention of further increasing its share over the coming years. After the completion of the preparatory stage, which will involve coordinating joint activities, the second stage of cooperation will begin in the autumn of this year. It will consist of gradually merging the international and domestic operations of Frans Maas and STS Logistics into a coherent whole.
